After examining a number of different options for attacks from Flanders to Verdun, Ludendorff decided to make his war winning attack on the Somme front. The attack would be launched around St. Quentin. It would advance to the line of the Somme, which would then be held against any French counterattack, while the main attack continued to the north west, cutting off the BEF and allowing the Germans to defeat the British before their allies could come to their aid. If things went really well, the Germans hoped to reach the sea, perhaps at Abbeville where the Somme enters the English Channel. General information about viruses
Misunderstanding commonly results when people group viruses and bacteria into the same category of disease. Bacteria and viruses are two completely different organisms, each functioning in different and unique ways. Bacteria are one-celled organisms capable of living and reproducing independently. The major parts of a bacterium cell are; a cell wall, cytoplasm, and a nucleoid. The cell wall protects the cell and gives it shape. The cytoplasm is the fluid inside the cell where cell growth, replication, and metabolism are carried out. The cytoplasm also contains all the components for these actions such as the nucleoid, ribosomes, and plasmids. The nucleoid is the region in the cytoplasm where the strands of DNA are located. Bacteria cells reproduce through a process called binary fission. In this process, a single bacterium cell grows to twice its normal size and splits into two daughter cells. These two new daughter cells are exact copies of the original cell. When bacteria infect a body, they do so by multiplying inside the organism and producing toxins that infect surrounding cells or tissues. But very few bacteria are harmful. 99% of the bacteria found in the body are helpful, and most are actually necessary for life. Harmful disease-causing bacteria can be eliminated or killed with antibiotics.

Viruses on the other hand, exist and function in an entirely different manner than bacteria. They are not an independent organism. When a virus is alone it is not metabolically active like bacteria; it needs a host cell to function, and in which to reproduce. Many people acquire HPV with their first sexual experience. Over half the sexually active population carries an HPV type or types. About 80% of women by age 50 will test positive for HPV. Most often a doctor doesn't recommend treatments for low grade cell changes. These will regress most often within a year or so. Most doctor do treat high grade cell changes…these have a bigger risk at being more persist or can progress.

Most often the body does build immunity to its acquired HPV type. Simple lifestyle changes may help the virus regress…eating a balanced diet…5 to 7 servings of fruits and veggies, getting good sleep..8 hours…our bodies cells heal in stage four sleep…limit alcohol…exercise…and if you are in a relationship consider using condoms…they don't prevent the transmission of the virus but studies do show they help in the regression of the virus and may aid in healing the cervix.

I am sure your doctor recommended a time frame for follow up repap testing…follow his advice or the advice of your new doctor.

Having a good frank discussion with a new sex partner is a good idea. Men don't usually have the same health problems as women do…but sometimes men do have problems…most people that have engaged in sex…carries HPV…once we acquire an HPV type…our body usually identifies with that type and builds immunity…but sometimes the virus can reactive…even years after initially acquiring the virus….and we can acquire new HPV types. They are 40 genital HPV types.

Routine Pap testing can prevent cervical cancer. Knowing that you play an important part in preventing cervical cancer…with monitoring of your cervix with Pap testing should help ease your mind.

• ASC—Atypical Squamous Cells. Squamous cells are the thin, flat cells that form the
surface of the cervix. The Bethesda System divides this category into two groups:
1. ASC–US—Atypical Squamous Cells of Undetermined Significance. The squamous cells do not appear completely normal, but doctors are uncertain what the cell changes mean. Sometimes the changes are related to HPV infection. An HPV test may be done to clarify the findings.
2. ASC–H—Atypical Squamous Cells cannot exclude a High-grade squamous
intraepithelial abnormality. Intraepithelial refers to the layer of cells that forms the surface of the cervix. The cells do not appear normal, but doctors are uncertain what the cell changes mean. ASC–H may indicate a higher risk of being precancerous compared with ASC–US.
• AGC—Atypical Glandular Cells. Glandular cells are mucus-producing cells found in
the endocervical canal (opening in the center of the cervix) or in the lining of the uterus. The glandular cells do not appear normal, but doctors are uncertain what the cell changes mean.
• AIS—endocervical Adenocarcinoma In Situ. Precancerous cells are found in the
glandular tissue.
• LSIL—Low-grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion. Low-grade means there are early changes in the size and shape of the cells. The word lesion refers to an area of abnormal tissue. LSILs are considered mild abnormalities caused by HPV infection and are a common condition, especially among young women. The majority of LSILs return to normal over months to a few years.
• HSIL—High-grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion. High-grade means that the cells look very different in size and shape from normal cells. HSILs are more severe abnormalities and may eventually lead to cancer if left untreated.
